EIA: U.S. PV MODULE SHIPMENTS REACHED TO 28.8GW LAST YEAR, A YEAR-ON-YEAR INCREASE OF 32%!

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said recently that U.S. solar panel shipments in 2021 jumped 32% to 28.8GW ,compared to 21.8GW in 2020, it's a new record. The demand for solar panel in U.S. market is booming.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) noted that U.S. solar panel shipments include imports, exports, and domestic production and shipment. Significantly, about 80% PV modules are imported from Asia.

The agency noted that U.S. panels shipment is related to domestic PV capacity keeps rising. While some U.S. PV projects were delayed due to supply chain constraints and price change, new U.S. utility PV installations surged 25% to 13.2GW last year, compared with 10.6GW in 2020. It's a new record.

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), new installation capacity of residential solar systems in the U.S.  increased by 23% to 5.4GW last year, compared with 4.4GW in 2020. It's reported that the installation capacity of residential systems in the United States surged from 34% to 3.9GW last year, compared with 2.9GW in 2020.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said the average price of PV module shipments in 2021 fell by 11% to $0.34/kW despite supply chain constraints and higher material costs. The average price is pretty low, compared to $1.96/kW in 2010.

The U.S. states with the largest PV module shipments last year were: California (peak 5090MW), Texas (4310MW), Florida (1800MW), Georgia (1150MW), Illinois (1120MW), the agency said.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said these states account for 46 percent of all U.S. PV module shipments.
